Prima di buttare nel cesso win98, come tutti voi mi avete consigliato, devo salvare una quarantina di GB di dati...
Ho comprato masterizzatore DVD. L'ho montato ben bene, ma win98 non fa nemmeno finta che esso esista... com'è possibile? É possibile che non sia compatibile? Almeno come lettore dovrebbe vedermelo, no?

Ok... aggiornamenti. Nel BIOS non me lo rilevava. Poi ho notato che al caricamento di Winzozz il dato relativo al cd-rom ci metteva una vita a comparire... ho rismontato tutto. Ho osservato meglio i due lettori.
Qui c'è una foto esplicativa... la freccia indica una zona detta "mode" dove entrambi i lettori presentano un... cosino... impostato su "master"... si pestano i piedi? Non ho idea di come spostare il cosino da master a slave...
Comunque: ho tolto il lettore dvd per vedere se solo con il masterizzatore risolvevo il problema. Bene: il BIOS mi vede il masterizzatore; winzozz mi vede il masterizzatore, ma ne parla come di un'unità cdrom normale; sisoft sandra mi vede il masterizzatore, ma ne parla come di unità cdrom/dvd... infatti poi Nero non me lo vede ma neanche di sbieco.
Questione di driver? Li troverò su internet, nevvero?

Ah, tanto che ci sono: il file boot.ini da win98 dove lo trovo?

beh il cosino è un ponticello mobile che puoi spostare... sul tuo drive dovrebbe esserci la spiegazione di come ponticellare... mi raccomando... master DVD sul master e l'altro su slave!!!

Il master è la periferica che ha la precendenza sulla catena, lo slave la secondaria (leggiti qualche guida...sadomaso ).
Come ti diceva Gwath il masterizzatore DVD su MASTER e l'altro slave.

Per windows non mi preoccuperei, il mio cdrw è sempre stato visto da win come lettore.
Riguardo nero può darsi che ti tocca farti un aggiornamento del programma (non di versione ma proprio di upgrade per supportare i nuovi masterizzatori). Li trovi su:

????? Il boot.ini è solo di win2k/xp ... se hai un dual boot nella partizione di boot del disco primario (C:\)
