tcp, rto, karn (?)

posto qui una domanda del compito di gennaio della quale non capisco bene la risposta; dato che per ora sul forum ufficiale - che temo frequentino pochi - nessuno ha voluto ancora farsi avanti (e immagino la prof non risponda prima di domani), intanto posto anche qui allo scopo di intrattenere con matte risate (cit.) :D

mi sembra di capire che in questo caso venga applicato l'algoritmo di Karn; tuttavia non riesco a capire come mai la varianza sia 1.5

è quello che ho notato anche io, la varianza non viene citata nel testo dell'esame, quindi non abbiamo una stima corretta.

penso che la soluzione di questo esercizio passi semplicemente per il raddoppio del RTO (quindi da 26 a 52), mentre RTT e D restano uguali. questo perchè non viene considerato un evento raro (come una scadenza di time out) per il calcolo dei nuovi RTT e D.

con timeout il vecchio tempo di RTT viene mantenuto ,il RTO viene raddoppiato.

Mi sembra che per calcolarti la nuova varianza ci sia una fomula...ma nn saprei.
ho fatto l'esame a luglio e non ricordo i particolari

se confronti con il nuovo valore di RTO (quello raddoppiato) si. ma in caso di raddoppiamento di RTO, gli altri valori non vengono ricalcolati (quindi D resta 1.5)

Relativamente a questo esercizio dell'appelo del 29-01-08:

Una connessione TCP ha correntemente RTT=16 msec., RTO=24 msec. e D=2.
Si determini il valore di RTT e RTO se le due successive trasmissioni avvengono
con successo e gli ack sono ricevuti rispettivamente (1) dopo 23 msec. e (2)
dopo 28 msec. dalle rispettive trasmissioni. Si applichi l’abituale valore di alfa.

come si calcola RTT?

RTO invece è RTT+4D?
