Well, who didn't see that coming?"

Alla luce delle recenti denunce dalla Siae a siti didattici e culturali non profit per l'utilizzo di immagini digitali di pittori protette dai diritti d'autore, con richiesta di ingenti somme pecuniarie, esprimiamo all'opinione pubblica le nostre preoccupazioni di educatori e formatori.
La Siae infatti, applicando "alla lettera" una legge le cui origini risalgono all'anteguerra (legge del 22/4/1941, n. 633 e successivamente adeguata con la legge 22 maggio 2004, n. 128) e non individuando alcuna differenza tra uso didattico-formativo-istituzionale e uso commerciale, pretende il pagamento di diritti d'autore su opere protette. In particolare essa sostiene che l'utilizzazione, anche parziale, di un'opera costituisce lesione del diritto morale dell'autore e che la riproduzione non autorizzata delle opere in questione lede gli esclusivi diritti patrimoniali che la legge riconosce agli stessi.

Ecco solo alcune delle innumerevoli conseguenze dirette che si verificano rispettando la norma:
1- qualsiasi sito scolastico o blog didattico che utilizza per puro scopo didattico file sonori, immagini protette, citazioni d'autore, rischia ingenti sanzioni e quindi la chiusura immediata
2- le rappresentazioni teatrali, i saggi di fine anno caratterizzati da sottofondi musicali alla presenza di pubblico o dei genitori sono insostenibili dal punto di vista economico
3- la realizzazione di cd rom didattici e la creazione di ipertesti sono estremamente costose
4- la libertà didattica e le specifiche competenze professionali degli insegnanti ne risultano condizionate

Questo comportamento limita fortemente la funzione formativa della Scuola e la libertà didattica degli insegnanti!

Chiediamo quindi al Ministero della Giustizia, al Ministero della Pubblica Istruzione, al Ministero dei Beni Culturali che la Scuola, nell'ambito della propria e specifica funzione educativa, formativa e didattica, sia esentata dal COPYRIGHT in situazioni non profit e che gli insegnanti vengano equiparati alle categorie che possono beneficiare gratuitamente di opere artistiche nel contesto professionale, senza fini di lucro. Chiediamo inoltre che le richieste vengano estese a produttori di cultura off /on line a livello gratuito e che operano nello spirito del Cooperative Learning, quali associazioni e community non profit.

Studio condotto dal Centro di Ricerca sul Cancro Cesare Maltoni (CRCCM), Fondazione di Oncologia e Scienze Ambientali “Bernardino Ramazzini” - Bologna

Stante il consumo mondiale di Coca-Cola, la Fondazione Europea Ramazzini ha pianificato e condotto presso il suo CRCCM di Bentivoglio, Bologna, un progetto sperimentale per studiare gli eventuali effetti a lungo termine correlati alla somministrazione a ratti Sprague-Dawley di Coca-Cola al posto dell'acqua da bere per tutta la vita, fino a morte naturale.

I test biologici sono stati eseguiti su ratti maschi e femmine di diverse età, e precisamente:
(a) esposti sin dalla fase embrionale o dall'età di 7 settimane;
(b) esposti a partire da 30, 39 o 55 settimane d'età.
Complessivamente il progetto ha riguardato 1999 ratti. Durante la fase vitale, sono stati raccolti dati sul consumo di bevande e di cibo, sul peso corporeo e la sopravvivenza. Gli animali sono stati tenuti sotto osservazione fino al decesso naturale e quindi sottoposti ad autopsia.
I risultati indicano:
(a) un aumento del peso corporeo di tutti gli animali trattati;
(b) un aumento statisticamente significativo in relazione ai tumori maligni mammari nelle femmine, sia con prole che senza;
(c) un aumento statisticamente significativo dell'incidenza degli adenomi esocrini del pancreas sia nei maschi che nelle femmine, sia con prole che senza;
(d) una maggior incidenza, per quanto non statisticamente significativa, dei carcinomi delle cellule delle isole del pancreas nelle femmine, un tumore maligno verificatosi molto raramente nei controlli storici del CRCCM.
Sulla base dei risultati di questo studio, il consumo eccessivo di bevande analcoliche dovrebbe essere generalmente scoraggiato, in particolare nei bambini e negli adolescenti.

Jabber Software Foundation Publishes Open VoIP and Multimedia Protocols

Jabber Community and Industry Leaders Team Up on Voice, Video, and Multimedia Extensions to XMPP

DENVER, CO, USA, DECEMBER 15, 2005 -- The Jabber Software Foundation (JSF) today published initial documentation of Jingle, a set of extensions to the IETF's Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP) for use in voice over IP (VoIP), video, and other peer-to-peer multimedia sessions. The Jingle technology represents an open version of the protocols used in the popular Google Talk application released in August 2005, and Google is supporting the standardization and evolution of these protocols through the JSF's community standards process. The specifications published today are:

JEP-0166: Jingle Signalling -- The core technology for peer-to-peer session management, which enables communication through existing firewalls and can be extended to support a wide range of session types.
